Shipwrecked Shoes

Driving Demons Out

Holding your head under the water,
well we were driving your demons out,
and you don’t even know why,
and by the time you realize, you’ll be dead and gone,
so shoot your mouth off once so we can have our fun

And holding these snakes up to the ceiling,
well isn’t my idea of fun, and isn’t really doing much,
but this guy claims he has a direct link to hell,
well we would know I guess, if he could learn to spell

So come on shoot me down,
‘cos I’ve seen it all today,
yeah come on shoot me down and out,
I’ve always liked flames, just let them play.

Yeah come on shoot me down,
‘cos I’ve seen it all before,
yeah come on shoot me down and out,
I’ve always preferred lying on the floor

In My Genes

Grow up now and take your shape,
molded by the force of your brothers fists,
to become this landscape,
you carry around,
without any sound

So fuse my bones!
and heal my skin!
a microcosm,
with its own coffins

Divide me into pieces of me,
I always wanted a twin brother,
so I could bore him to death,
can you capture his breath?
and dispose of the rest!

So fuse my bones!
and heal my skin!
a microcosm,
with its own coffins.
And is it in my shoes?
Or in my genes?!
‘cos washing all of it down,
is the hardest thing!

And if the sun has a will,
then it means me no ill,
but when the sky falls apart,
yeah, like it will,
then it’s time to depart

And was it in my shoes?
or in my genes?
‘cos washing all of it down,
was always the hardest thing.
Yeah, was it in my shoes?!
Or in my genes?!
‘cos washing all of it down,
is the hardest thing!

Brightly Shining Stars

I wrote this song as a kind of statuette,
to remind me of you, lest I should forget,
‘cos I seem to wake up every day,
thinking that you are still just a call away,
but it aint no more the truth,
and we’re all missing you

It’s times like these you think of everything you gave,
and all the things that you will take silently to your grave,
and the ocean of love,
the love that was yours,
is now gently flooding back upon our shores,
and we will hold you close, and we’ll never let it go

Tied to the sun, like you were tied to the moon,
and I don’t know what, what on earth we’ll do,
without you here, filling up our skies,
with an expanding multitude………

And I don’t quite know what else to say,
‘cos there a’int no way to explain the way I’m feeling day-to-day,
yeah, what is life? what is death and what is fair?!
And I know what I’m saying is just falling on deaf ears.
And I can’t quite understand,
but I’m hoping that I can

Tied to the sun, like you were tied to the moon,
and I don’t know what, what on earth we’ll do,
without you here, filling up our skies,
with an expanding multitude…….

Tied to the sun, like you were tied to the moon,
and I don’t know what, what on earth we’ll do,
without you here, filling up our skies,
with expanding multitudes of brightly shining stars.

Tied to the sun, like you were tied to the moon,
and I know that we’ll never forget you,
because you’re here, filling up our skies,
with expanding multitudes of brightly shining stars

Hold a flame

Say what you want to say, I wont even do a thing,
yeah for what that brings,
turn out the light as we slip into our separate worlds,
yeah, as they both come unfurled

Feel no pain,
nothing remains

Take what you want to take, don’t even leave a trace,
as I feel you hesitate, now I know we will never be anything,
yeah for what that brings,
I call your name,
as we lose our way

So hold on tight,
‘cos I’m falling back and forth again,
I think of you,
and everything we ever learnt about ourselves,
the feelings that would surmount everything,
still remain

If you feel the same,
hold a flame

Feelin’ Free

Trapped ourselves behind a wall again,
we’d been building it for days,
they said they didn’t want time-wasters here again,
but it’s always the same

Pick me up we’ll take a ride to town,
and see what’s happening on the streets,
the kids are beating some old man to half to death,
but at least it’s not me,
and at least they’re feelin’ free

I caught myself in a photograph,
it’s just like that,
and all the people ‘round me are selling crack,
it’s just like that,
the money I lent, well I want it back,
don’t look like that,
the forgone conclusion of a heart attack

Fire is erupting everywhere,
windows smash and tires screech,
run across the Platz and just sit and wait,
for the fires to abate,
for the kids to rule the state

I Set my Sail

Time never leaves it always remains,
reaching back through all of my days,
and all those times I spent hanging round with you
Oh, oh, like we were made of glue,
oh, oh, like one split into two

But now I’m looking like a shipwreck on the shore,
trying to put the pieces back to build my floor,
so I can stand on my own two feet again.
Oh Lord, please let this pain end

I set my sail as I float into the stream,
I’ll cast it down when I reach that shore again,
I lost my voice it was inside of you,
oh, oh, now what can I do?
Oh, oh, like one split into two,
oh, oh, now what can I do?

I lost my voice,
it was inside of you.

Sea Song

Well I could have been one of my brothers,
but I fell down and broke my head,
and I could have been one of my sisters, oh no,
but I couldn’t have lied, I couldn’t have lied like that

Pull me out of this flaming fire,
and shoot an apple off my head,
and I could have been just like a wishful maid,
but I couldn’t have lied, I couldn’t of lied like that

Tell me your real name,
and I’ll do the same,
hang on, don’t be going yet,
just cool your jets

Razed to the ground,
like my father’s father turned it around,
left for dead and time was running out,
like the feeling that escapes the hours

Enemy attack

Unraveling this ball of lies,
that you’ve begun to roll,
and none of it is making sense,
the deeper that it goes

So send in men behind the lines,
and arm them to their teeth,
with hatred, fear and emptiness,
so they can plant it underneath

Keep it in the mountains,
and keep it under wraps,
‘cos I don’t want to be your enemy attack,
‘cos even when it’s over,
you don’t give up the fight

I don’t want to mess with you,
in this life time,
just a little fool like you,
in this life

So keep it in the mountains,
and keep it under wraps,
‘cos I don’t want to be your enemy attack,
‘cos even when it’s over,
you don’t give up, you don’t give up, you don’t give up the fight!

Covert operations are,
now reaping from the soil,
they’re stealing every country’s wealth,
and laughing over the spoils

So you think you own the world,
well I’m not so sure of that,
oh, oh it’s funny how,
it all seems to fall away through your hands

Shine

Shine shine, shine, shine shine…

Well cutting out this dead wood,
‘cos you were rotten to the core,
and shed your skin from right off of your bones,
there’s only one way you can be sure.

Don’t sink like a stone,
but light up like a flame,
and listen to what your head has to say,
and shed your skin from right off of your bones,
there’s only one way you can be saved

Yeah, you’ve seen the world, you’ve seen the world, you’ve seen the world,
and now now now now what you gonna do?
you turn around and keep your mouth shut!
there’s only one thing left to do!

Shine shine, shine, shine shine…

Yeah, you’ve seen the world, you’ve seen the world, you’ve seen the world,
and now now now now what you gonna do?
you turn around and keep your mouth shut!
there’s only one thing left to do!

Shine shine, shine, shine shine…

Colder Than Fire

Colder than fire, colder than fire, well her heart was, colder than fire

I never leave, but your attention can’t be divided,
and I still wait for you to talk to me,
hot on your heels and you should know that I will not be shaken

Colder than fire, colder than fire, her heart was,

And then one day we traveled out beyond the shore line,
and then you came with a strange request,
told me to look over the side, then I was sinking,

Colder than fire, colder than fire, her heart was, colder than fire
Colder than fire, colder than fire, her heart was,

And now I’ve dragged myself out of the seaweed and the coral,
I’m dusting myself off again,
next thing is how to get around all of these alligators,
you really know how to plan a plan

Colder than fire, colder than fire, her heart was, colder than fire
Colder than fire, colder than fire, her heart was,

All I Know

Standing underneath this wise and ancient oak,
I’ve been waiting right here for 33 years,
and by and by I know I’m slowly getting old,
but I can’t seem to stray from it’s shelter,
it’s all I know

But I’ll be guessing one day will come the lightning strike,
and I will be thrown to the way side,
with badly burning skin, and softly spoken hymns,
I’ll be saying goodbye to the defector,
that’s all I know

‘Cos even if I speak, I don’t listen,
and even though I see, I don’t believe,
in anything at all,
in almost anything at all,
and standing on the edge of this chaos,
and watching myself just slip away,
well further from the truth,
and further from you

But until the time that blinding day comes,
I’ll be waiting in the shade of my protector,
until someone comes along,
takes me back where I belong,
back into the hearts of my old friends,
my old friends, my old friends, my old, old friends,
Well that’s all I want!

Dressed for the world

Arising from our sleep, we slowly push into the dawn,
the last stars disappear and the sun is reborn,
I don’t have much to say, about my day-to-day,
but at least I have no fear,
the stars will appear in Virgo

We stand in full daylight, and yet we hardly see at all,
evolution should be put back on the drawing board

Waking up at the break of dawn, never let up until you find your way,
before you let the world sink in, tell your self that you will win one day,
and so let it out now

This is a calling,
blessed and brave this time,
brought up in backwater towns,
dressed for the world

The night sky creeps in and our vision starts to wane,
it’s now impossible to tell from where we came

Turn around and walk back again, never let up until you find your way,
before you start to go astray, free your mind of all communique.
Waking up at the break of dawn, never let up until you find you way,
before you let the world sink in, tell yourself that you will win one day,
and so let it out……now

This is a calling,
blessed and brave this time,
brought up in backwater towns,
dressed for the world,

Yeah this is a calling,
this is a calling,
this is a calling,
dressed for the world

So, we submit,
to this day,
bored and contorted,
dig in deep

Got something to say?
